Melanie Hartwig-Davis has been active with Path to Greatness (P2G) since 2011 starting as a member of the P2G Advisory Board then transitioning to the Board of Trustees. A licensed architect since 1999, she is owner and principal of the firm HD Squared Architects, LLC, a company started in Cheverly MD in 1999 now with primary offices in Edgewater, just south of Annapolis. To that role, she brings a level of talent that has earned her extensive recognition in her field going back to her days at Mississippi State, receiving the Alpha Rho Chi Metal for Leadership, Service and Merit, and continuing until today with such accomplishments as graduation from Leadership Prince Georges. A LEED Accredited Professional since 2008, historic preservation and sustainable design is a focus of her work.
Even beyond P2G, Mrs. Hartwig-Davis consistently maintains an active role in her community. Currently, she is on the Board of Directors for the MD League of Conservation Voters (MDLCV) as well as a member of the Environmental Action Commission (EAC) of the Prince George’s County Department of the Environment. County Executive Baker appointed Mrs. Hartwig-Davis as Commissioner of the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) in 2011 where she served until 2013. In 2010, Melanie was appointed by Gov. O’Malley as Architect Member of the MD Board of Certified Interior Designers. She was also the Architect and founding Member of the Cheverly Green Infrastructure Committee from 2009-2011.
For over 15 years, she was fully engaged in the operations of Cheverly United Methodist Church – working in facilities management, maintenance, renovations, budget and finance, fundraising, event planning, grant submissions, bond bill submissions, and more. Melanie Hartwig-Davis is an individual of considerable skill, a strong sense of volunteerism, high-level energy and is a valued member of the Board of P2G. She, her husband Lance Davis, and their three sons are members of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Annapolis, MD and reside in Edgewater, MD.
