Walter S. Swindell, II is a career financial professional with extensive accounting and finance experience. His education includes a B.S. in Accounting and a M.S. in Financial Management. He has had direct experience with the management oversight of accounting functions in private, public, and non-profit organizations. His responsibilities include the management of general accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, credit and collections, the preparation of consolidated financial statements, the satisfaction of quarterly and year-end SEC 10Q and 10K filing requirements, and the primary interface with independent auditors. He also has direct experience with the preparation of month-end close reports and the reporting of financial results to senior executives of the organization.
Throughout his career he has held various leadership roles. His responsibilities included the oversight of a staff of 70 professional and non-professional employees. The roles and responsibilities of this staff ranged from clerical processors, reconciliation specialist, business analyst, quality improvement analyst, trainers, supervisors, and managers. Working in an environment that is culturally diverse with varying levels of skills and education has allowed him to develop a very unique skill of being able to communicate, educate and motivate on different levels.
In his senior level roles with large and small organizations he has gained valuable experience with leading process improvement initiatives, facilitating change initiatives with cross-functional teams, implementing new technologies, and managing to performance score cards. This experience includes building alliances with key decision makers, developing strategic plans, and ensuring alignment of organization goals between management and staff.
Optimization Solutions Consulting was formed by Walter S. Swindell, II to provide individuals and organizations with tools and processes that contribute to the development of a road map for success. The company focuses on improving results by leveraging people, processes, technology and profits towards the organizations purpose. This is accomplished by providing assessments and development tools that contribute to the alignment of resources, accountability of all stakeholders, and the sustainability of all aspects of the business. Prior to establishing Optimization Solutions Consulting, Walter Swindell spent 12 years as the Director of Membership Administration for Kaiser Permanente where he was responsible for the billing and collections of $1 billion in insurance premiums and the eligibility records for 500,000 members. Walter currently serves as an adjunct Assistant Professor for the University of Maryland University College. In this role he is assigned to instruct a capstone Strategic Management, Small Business Management, and Decision making course in the undergraduate Business School.
