Dear Fellow Employees, Colleagues and Friends,

My 30 years of service with Prince George’s County Public Schools has been one of the highlights of my life.  When I left the classroom to enter administration, I kept the students uppermost in my heart and mind.  Even now I remain committed to those students as they are among the most at risk in the school district.  I know you too have a heart to help our children and youth.  As I approach my retirement, effective September 1, 2017, I can think of no better way to honor them than to invest in their education because someday they will carve out the future for our community.

Therefore in lieu of a retirement celebration, I have established an education fund that will direct your contribution to a deserving Title I school with a high percentage of students eligible to receive free or reduced meals.  The Mahone Education Empowerment Fund will make it possible to help level the playing field for students who cannot afford the essential tools for living, let alone learning.  The school selected to receive your contributions will be announced at an Award’s Reception on September 14, 2017.  The school will be required to document use of funds in one of the following areas: 

(a) Funds will be used to supplement student supplies, materials and equipment used for instructional purposes;

(b) Funds will be used to provide personal and or health-related materials and/or services for students;

(c) Funds will be used to increase student participation in district approved educational and/or cultural activities.

 

 While all donations are appreciated, there are four levels of contribution:

Scholar Level: $50 

Includes an invitation to the Awards Reception, complimentary hors d’oeuvres and drinks.

Cum Laude Level: $100 

Includes an invitation to the Awards Reception, plus a special recognition award. 

Magna Cum Laude: $250 

Includes an invitation to the Awards Reception, plus a special recognition award.                                              

Summa Cum Laude: $500 & Up 

Includes an invitation to the Awards Reception, plus a special recognition award.

Please make your donation by September 11, 2017 to RSVP your attendance at the Awards Reception.  All donations are tax deductible. (Donations will be accepted through September 30th, 2017.)
